Lap..er..Desk..Top???

Laptops are convenient to carry and stay connected where ever u are. But people found that confidential company information was being carried out of the company premises. So in a move that shocked the world( at least it shoked me), the top management decided to bolt the laptops onto the employee's desk in order to prevent people from smuggling confidential information ...... hats off to these guys :) ( adichika mudiyala pa ivangala :D)

Hahaha...you know why I can relate to this more than many many others :D !

I think its a wise move.. so that your burden to carry something heavy is also reduced!!.. The company wants their employes to be stress free of carrying laptop instead of that.. burden them with additional work :)..

You have to be from my organization. I can imagine another organization thinking of a similar solution to date smuggling.

Well.....I was so upset when they blocked all the webmails!But yeah..on the brighter side.you dont have to carry work to home!

this cud b inconvenient especially if ur works requires moving arnd places ..or even working from home ..

Yeah!!The next step would be to strap all the employess to their seats so that they don't smuggle company information out of the office..

Also reminds me of the movie paycheck, where once the hero completes a project in an office, his memory is erased off..I can see that coming!!

@Mr.Seagull - he he but no its not our company..

@Sujit - thats exactly the point.. If they want me to work then they need to lemme take work home..

@Maverick - OMG!!! I thought it was a joke.. is it true.. let us know which 'mahan' organization this is..

@Neema - I know .. its really irritating isnt it to work without the webmails ..( er... vellai irunthadaane kashtam :D)..Ana u are a complete optimist.. :)

this is ridiculous. what happened to trust? why should they hire someone if you don't trust them?
the whole concept behind laptops is to empower employees so that they can work while travelling or at home.

Sujit said...

Why do you want yourself put under stress even at home. Home is a place to relax and spend time with family and freinds. Not with work dragging to home.. unless you are alone at home.. this is fine kind..!!

@Kaps - I thought it was ridiculous too.. but trust and stuff never corssed my mind :) All I could think was that it defeats the purpose of having a laptop.. They might as well have desktops instead..

@Sujit - true.. But u can do work at your pace if u r at home... c I can keep the milk to boil and send a mail in the meantime.. Not that I do that now..but there are always two sides tothe coin ....

Oh yeah, not to mention the random frisking at the security gate!Anyway, I finally thought I should slowly start a lifeless normal blog......and I managed to publish too!!! :)

Reminds of me Dilbert -when the IT department wants, the "move" of laptops and PDAs to be handled by them and not the employees

=)))))

@Neema - cool.. congrats on restarting your blog

@Arvind - he he ya .. it is actually happening n nineichathan adhisiyamaa iruku

Sujit said...

if it can't be taken around, I might as well settle for a desktop! it is a lot convenient!!

Here generally laptops are provided for carrying work home..if u bolt it down..
This defies the whole purpose of laptops, the company shud have thot of earlier and gone for desktop, which cost a fraction of the cost.
Secong thing..very easy to carry infor out in memory sticks..which come in range of 1-5 gigs..so either ways bummer!!!

just wondering: how are they doing it??? i mean how are they managing to fix tht laptop on to your desk-top??

Yadhvi said...

@kaushik
Fevicol! as simple as that!

Vidya said...

@Sujit - :)

@Yadhvi - ya right :)

@Vijay - ejjatly my point :)

@Kaushik - I was wondering too..

@Yahdhvi - ha ha !! thanx for taking over

LOL ! Well, what happens when an employee walks out of the office ? Are the companies not in danger of losing their confidential data through them ?

In my previous company in India, only guys used to frisked when we left work. I would always wonder why. They would randomly search the ladies handbags but with no idea of what they are searching for !!
